Developed between 1994 and 1997 and
launched in April 1997 in Oxford, England, Pay2See was created by the
world's premier micropayment expert teams led by Mark Baker and
providing consulting and information to companies like Chase Manhattan
Bank and Bertelsmann on high technology content delivery systems,
watermarking, payment system monitoring, custom billing systems,
billing systems for digital content digital asset management and
digital rights management as well as receiving honours such as the
Express News Paper and British Telecoms coveted eBusiness
awards.
The original Pay2See system brought
micropayments to thousands of Pay2See merchants and powerful
integrated data compression with state of the art encryption to speed
up file transfer and secure data. It used the RC4 encryption
algorithm is stream cipher developed in 1987 by Ron Rivest, for RSA
Data Security. RSA claims that the algorithm is immune to differential
and linear cryptanalysis. It also featured an integral merchant
account facility with micropayment options and was deceptively simple
to set up allowing merchants to set up a digital content shop
literally in minutes rather than days or weeks as had previously been
the case. Here is part of the original product description:
 |
